A cairn is a stack of stones, laid to mark the safe path.
The name comes from the markers laid by the people who came before. We built Cairn after watching safety teams pick their way through OSHA enforcement data that was never designed to be queried. The data is public, but reading it the way a compliance officer needs to takes expertise most teams have to buy by the hour.
Cairn is an OSHA compliance research platform that puts the federal compliance record in one cited place: regulatory text, agency interpretations, enforcement history, and adjacent safety research. Ask a question in plain language and get an answer with citations to the same documents the agency's own field staff reference, so you can open the source and check it.
We are the research layer underneath your Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) platform. The part that answers "is what we're doing legal, and how do I prove it?" It spans four OSHA compliance tools that all read the same record.
We are headquartered in Boston, with safety practitioners and engineers across the United States. Our customers run plants, job sites, and pipelines. They want the citation and the source document, so that's what Cairn gives them.
What's in the record
Cairn's record is built from authoritative public datasets. We read primary sources, we leave the underlying records unaltered, and every citation links back to the original document.
Cairn covers enforcement histories, regulatory text, agency interpretations, and adjacent safety research, all drawn from public federal sources. Ask a question, get answers grounded in the same record the agency's own field staff reference, or check your citation risk by industry for free.
A complete list of underlying datasets, refresh cadence, and licensing is available under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Ask sales for the data appendix to the Master Services Agreement (MSA).
What we promise
Claims are cited
If Cairn can't ground an answer in a public source, the answer says so. We would rather return "I don't know" than fabricate.
Customer data is never used to train models
Your queries, chats, facility list, and Letter of Interpretation (LOI) drafts never touch our model training. They stay in your tenant only.
We don't replace your safety judgment
Cairn is a research tool. It surfaces the standards, citations, and precedent. The decision is still yours, and we make sure you can defend it.
